Gamay
Although a red grape, this Beaujolais grape has a distinctive pale flesh and light coloured wines are produced, often with a blue tinge.
Most Gamay wines should be drunk young and its low levels of tannins and high acidity mean that it can be served chilled. Gamay, being more rugged than Pinot Noir can handle dishes with riches textures and spicier flavours. Coq au vin is a great match for a food bottle of Gamay.
